What’s mOO!

Moo! is used in the classroom to teach high school students ethics, how to create sustainable food chains, educates how food is made, and on purchasing decisions around food. After game play, the teacher will facilitate a discussion around the decisions the students made in the game and the impact the game had on them.

Facilitation Guide

At the end of the game, the teacher will discuss these questions with their students:

  • What did you experience? What can be learned from playing Moo!?

  • What were you thinking? Why did you do that? '

  • Would you change anything about your method the next time you play the game?

  • How many cows were you able to take to market? What path did you follow? Organic or boosted? Why? Who won? The one who followed the organic or boosted path? How did you like the games structure?

  • How can the game’s experience be used in daily life? Has playing the game impacted the type of meat you will buy in the grocery store?

  • Before playing this game, did you know cows get boosted to speed up their growth? How do you feel about this?

  • How is our food system structured? Should it be more sustainable?

  • How has this game impacted you?

  • Are you more aware now of the food industry? Why or why not?

  • Would you play this game again? Share it with your friends and family? Why or why not?
